Patient Spirometry measures airway pressures, flow, volumes, compliance and airway resistance breath-by-breath at the patient’s airway. The dynamic interrelationships of pressure and volume or flow and volume are displayed as graphical loops on patient monitor screen. In addition, the inspired and expired gas concentrations (CO₂, O₂, N₂O and anesthetic agents) are measured. All parameters are measured through a single, lightweight flow sensor and gas sampler placed at the patient’s airway. The close-to-the patient measurement is a sensitive and continuous reflector of patient’s ventilatory status, obtained independently of the ventilator used.

Patient spirometry sensors, tubing and kits are tested and approved for use in critical care environments where GE HealthCare gas monitoring technology is applied. Patient spirometry accessories are available with following CARESCAPE respiratory modules¹ or compact airway modules.
